The Top 5 Places You NEED to Eat in Chicago

I love everything about Chicago. The streets are always bustling, there are numerous things to see and do, and endless places to eat for foodies like me. I've been to Chicago a few times & I've compiled my top 5 places to eat on your visit to the windy city:

1. Giordano's Pizza

Everyone has their favorite pizza place that they claim is the best. I've personally tried Lou Malnotti's, Gino's East, and Giordano's. Giordano's has never ceased to disappoint. For the purposes of this review, my husband and I always share a deep dish pizza — usually just keeping it simple with pepperoni. The crust is also the perfect thickness with the right amount of crispness. The sauce is perfectly seasoned. The cheese is ample and melts in your mouth with every bite. If you can only choose one pizza place, this is the one. Just be prepared — deep dish pizza at any establishment takes over 30+ minutes to cook.

2. Yolk

I am all about breakfast. In fact, I have to find a favorite breakfast place in every city I travel to. The first time we visited Chicago, we stumbled upon this place on our way to Navy Pier. It's always buzzing with people & is a bright and cheery atmosphere. The first time we ate here we each got our own Skillet, which we found was far too much food for one person (unless, of course, you're ravenous. No judgment here!). Now, we just split a skillet — usually with bacon, ham, green onions, bell peppers, breakfast potatoes, & topped with sunny side up eggs and cheddar cheese. So. Delicious. With toast, pancakes, or an English muffin as a side, you can't go wrong.

3. Weber's Grill

I'm going to be honest here guys, it's been a few years since I've eaten here. The reason is embarrassing. It's a little more upscale than your average off-the-street restaurant. The food was great. I'd recommend going there. But my favorite part wasn't the entree itself, or even a fancy dessert.

No, it was something simple that you're offered once you're seated that you get with whatever you order: Pretzel Rolls. Oh my lord do they make some delectable pretzel rolls. They serve it was some cheddar-butter concoction that is to die for. But the reason we haven't gone back recently is that I'm too embarrassed to go into a nice place like that — and only order pretzel rolls. Pretzel rolls that you'd normally get for free.

4. Goddess and the Baker

Alright Y'all, here's where I admit I have a little bit of a coffee addiction. While I will gladly drink coffee from the known chains, I truly enjoy finding a unique coffee-shop whenever I'm traveling. After a brief google search for coffee near my hotel, I saw the website for Goddess and the Baker & I fell in love.

First and foremost, I adore the color mint & even used it for my Wedding. So from first glance, their site drew me in. As I perused the menu I fell deeper in love & knew I'd be dragging my husband there. We went over a lunch hour, so I ordered the Goddess Sweet Cream Cold Brew as well as a kale and chicken caesar wrap. Also — score — they had macarons! You have no idea how ecstatic I was. 100% recommend everything. I think they have a couple different downtown Chicago locations.

5. Jake Melnick's Corner Tap

Dustin and I stumbled on this place when we realized we weren't craving pizza (gasp, I know). Apparently, they are well-known for their wings, so definitely give those a try! But when we were there, we wanted a good 'ol standby: burgers. They were the juiciest, most mouth-watering, cheesy burgers. I'm drooling a little just picturing these in my mind. If y'all are in the windy city and need some good classic American food, head on over here. They also have a fun assortment of board games for young and old alike if you like to mix food and games!

Bonus: Garrett's Popcorn

I am incapable of visiting Chicago without scooping up some of their amazing cheddar popcorn. I feel like I see a Garrett's every couple of blocks. And if you don't see one, follow your nose & let their aromas lead the way. In all seriousness, you haven't had gourmet popcorn unless you've tasted there's!
